About:

I'm confused, accident-prone, rebellious and somewhat bitter.

I was named with a candle. My parents lit three candles, chose a name for each candle and decided that the last one to go out would be my name. Nancy went out last. Mona went out first. They cannot remember the third.

I am an aunt who sits behind a curtain with her nephew for hours on end cause he said, "Nanoosa. Sit. Shhhh. Luglou."

I don’t know how to snap my fingers with my right hand.

I don’t know what my blood type is.

I have caps from where Alison and I were sliding around the living room floor with socks on our hands and I crushed my two front teeth. I fell out of the car as my father drove down the street. I dropped a pot of hot oil on myself. I rode off a hill on my bike and smashed into a wall. [And I laughed as I watched an older boy fall into a ditch after trying to do a trick on his bike at the dirt track.]

I've gone horseriding in the Drakensberg Mountains and by the pyramids. I've been inside the pyramid at Sakkara. I learned traditional Thai dancing. I know how to bellydance. I took ballet for 2 weeks. [When I was six]. I took Judo for one year [Until the teacher broke Julie's arm.]

Caiomhe and I used to tie rope to old tin cans and use them as stilts. Vibeke and I used to make pancakes the Danish way. I have a terrible memory.

I get angry when people attack the religious simply because they are religious
[but I can never be bothered to involve myself]

Most people have no idea what I'm like

I can count my close friends on one hand

I am apathetic [and only realised it when someone else pointed it out]

I am not a people-person
[I hate the expression people-person]

I am not narcissitic despite the fact that I have written this list.

nancy, love your pieces - your poetry... you have an amazing way with words. i really appreciated your comment on delicate, it is a song that obviously means a lot to me. As you pointed out, there are so many damien rice songs that're beautiful, many of which have come to mean so much more to me over the years - it is amazing how that happens.

The new album, "9", is just as amazing as "O"... i remember reading that he said he wasn't afraid to release something that wasn't so different, but i think it captures a few elements of Damien Rice that wasn't so obvious on the first album: real anger (not passive aggressive) and humor, both of which Damien can be very much of, especially in live shows. I really hope you've had a listen, if not, you can listen to the whole album(legally) here: http://www.warnerbrosrecords.com/damienrice/.
