explain to me why i can't get anything published. shall i write a "deep" poem focusing on the very depths of my soul/someone broke up with me? or shall i attempt to be funny? i need some freakin inspiration!!! evidently no one is as interested in education matters as i am

on 07/26/06 at 09:27 AM

steve, don't get me wrong, i thought the premise was great, but you ended up focusing too much on the wrong part of the article (the entire second half had to do with 4 or 5 hands of blackjack with the occasional desire for fucking), if you retool it a bit, i'm sure it'd be great.

hey! i went on a road trip through the south (st. louis, memphis, graceland, vicksburg, naches, jackson, new orleans) and lousiana was just awesome, but i was so shocked to see the amount of devestation thats still there. we kept passing by LSU and you poped into my mind. anyways, yeah, crazy stuff, it must be a total trip going to school there

on 05/03/06 at 11:29 AM

Agreed

on 05/02/06 at 01:52 PM

Don't you just hate spineless anonymous bastards? At least we all know their writing sucks.

on 04/29/06 at 01:25 PM

we need to co-write an article about the south

some points to include:

-chick-fil-a, waffle house, and other southern only stores and restaurants rock my socks
-manners are essential as is knowing your bloodlines and relatives
-the fact that some places let you bring your own alcohol to dinner
-there is land, land and more land!
-people talk slow b/c it's hot, not b/c they're stupid

on 04/25/06 at 08:45 AM

i think you misunderstand me, i mean that there is no good southern cooking in california. anywhere. there are few popeyes or church's and 1 chik-fil-a. i miss my grits dammit!
and emeril can't cook, he's just fakin it

on 04/24/06 at 10:35 PM

i'm considering writing a piece about how nowhere in CA there are good grits, fried chicken (well one place) or any other form of cajun and southern cooking. any ideas baton rogue?

on 04/19/06 at 07:23 PM

thanks, i'm on a mission this quarter to try to write as much as possible and try to publish as much as possible, but sometimes it feels like no one likes my stuff on this site. it's good to know i have a fan :)
my mom is from new orleans, so i've been back to visit there, but i haven't been to baton rogue yet. any interesting over there?

on 04/19/06 at 12:35 PM

two things:

1) thanks for your comments about my ficiton story. as a history major, i deal with writing about shit that's already happened, so the advice on "showing " vs. "telling" esp. w/ emotions is very helpful. if it doesn't go through, i'll try to rewrite it so that it better conveys what's going on

2) are you from louisiana, or from another part of the south/anywhere else? i ask b/c my mom's whole side of the family is from the south-my aunt went to lsu :)

on 04/04/06 at 02:49 PM

Sorry, 'twas just in print that week, though it wasn't a big article. I do a column called "web bytes" where a write a small paragraph about a couple of sites each week, and the heel was one of them I mentioned.

on 04/04/06 at 11:09 AM

do you have a link to that article you published about the heel?

on 03/28/06 at 06:42 PM

Please don't tell me that you actually modded your computer with water cooling.

on 11/13/05 at 02:05 PM

i liked your lsu article... maybe not general enough to be published... i thought it was. Anyway, thought I would tell you it was a good read.
