Tamawanas and Spring both mean Green
I took this hike up to Tamawanas falls some late last Fall and was quite amazed by this falls tucked away in the Mt. Hood wilderness. I am actually quite eager to get back up there again, if not for the large amount of snow I am sure is blanketing this area.
Probably the most amazing thing about this waterfall for me was the vast amount of lush green moss, literally like a blanket, thrown over the bowl at the base of this falls. A landscape of large boulders just covered in moss. It is really quite a sight. Green is one of the reasons I like this season so much. The rain and wet weather, combined with what should be warmer temperatures turn this state green, or at least this portion of it. Oregonians likewise have long known that as a rolling stone gathers no moss, if one does not get out and about frequently enough, they stand a good chance in this environment of growing moss themselves. I do not have nearly as much cabin fever during the Winter as I do during the Spring. And once the weather allows a second trip to both this falls and Ramona I think are in the cards... as well as Proxy... and Oneonta and.... © Zeb Andrews
