Second Beach Firsts
I am going to have to forgo my usual story telling tonight, the hour is drawing late. Suffice it to say, this was taken at the end of a very long weekend of driving that began with over 8 feet of snow and roads that had three inches of ice.
Skipping all the middle for tonight, perhaps I will save that for a later post, we eventually ended up adjusting plans and driving instead to Second Beach, which is very well represented on Flickr by a number of amazing shots. I have been anxious to make it to this beach for some time, and it did not disappoint. I will admit though, that I am getting tough to impress. Afterall, Oregon's coast is a wonderland of sand and rock and pounding surf. Washington's beaches certainly have their moments, but they just do not seem to be in as great of abundance as those in Oregon. Second Beach (along with Ruby) though is easily the peer to any of her southern cousins. So this shot was the result of a nice evening spent making a new acquaintance. And though the skies did not cooperate with an eye popping sunset, the golden light of magic hour worked some magic on the rocks and algae scattered along the beach. This shot was taken with my Nikon FM2 and Fuji Velvia 50 slide film, as well as a bit of help from a 2 stop GND filter. © Zeb Andrews
