this is a great idea for a circle, BTW

word....not the place to buy whole pizzas...more of a slice joint

on 09/01/05 at 09:32 AM

cheesboard is good... but i still feel ridiculous paying $20 for a pizza that lacks tomato sauce and meat.

Tako sushi was ok sushi for ridiculously cheap prices

Michael, you will burn in eternal hell for supporting Gypsies for such a long time. Has anyone NOT gotten a hair in their food there?

I second Everett & Jones, except it's fucking expensive. I ate there once while I was getting my volvo jiffy lubed. Good food....but it cost almost as much as the oil change.

Another one: Cheeseboard Pizza

You can't forget:

-Fat Slice Pizza with $1 per slice coupons
-Hua Hin is definitely a fine spot to eat as well (which is the elephant place Michael Reed is referring too)
-Fondue Freds
-Cheesesteak Shop on University
-Everett & Jones BBQ on San Pablo

The spicy shrimp marinara at La Val's on Northside is primo. it's usually around $6.50, but if you get the coupons from The Good Life at Berkeley booklet, the price drops down to 4 bucks, plus they give you a free drink. excellent deal.

I ate at gypsies for 3 years. It was shitty food and it was expensive but i loved it. It was so damn convenient. it was just one of those things. My senior year i walked across the street to "linguini" and finally found the spot to eat. I haven't eaten at gypsies since.

Other good ones: that little tai place with an elephant out front on bancroft close to shattuck.

I want to see articles on the following restaurants:

-The Smokehouse
-Vik's Chaat Corner
-Breads of India

Each one of these places is a little slice of heaven
