Has anyone else Wong Kar Wai's film?

The film does a wonderful job of, not entirely explaining, but demonstrating how relationships move forward through the course of time - how minuscule events lead up to break throughs, and how distracting events also diminish the possibility of future happenings. And how some things just "are."

Also that people often dwell in the past, that the only painful part of living is the present and the future if someone tries hard enough. That people often try so hard to mold their future into a vividly missed past, so much that they disappear into a mindset which is unable to detect the past, present, or future - and in this way, they aren't really living at all.

In a sense, it's all very sad and daunting, but it all ends well - if you look at it the right way.

But, apparently, that's the point of films. Perspective, and the art of moving photographs.

I have seen seven of his films and this is his masterpiece. Also this is one of my favorite films of all time.

Oh la la, it's always fun to hear about other fans of his movies. :)

 Mind sharing your other favourites?

I am all eyes and in the need of a blockbuster make-over.

Well I really like South Korean Film, I've never seen a bad South Korean movie. But I've only seen less than ten.

A few South Korean films I love are Oldboy, Memories of Murder, and The Host.

But nothing's better than a good horror film (It's hard to find one) but the scariest movie I've ever seen is Shutter, it's from Thailand so that's pretty neat.

Asian film pretty much is my favorite. But if you're looking for other films by this director, Kar Wai Wong, I think Fallen Angels and Chung King Express are his top two other two great films.

Haha, it's funny I hate romantic films from the U.S. but Kar Wai Wong's films are spectacular because they never have happy endings. I guess people can relate to them more...

You think people can relate more to tragedy?

Actually, yes.

I think tragedy is a beautiful phenomena, though. So if you're looking for a more optimistic or pretty answer, you've definitely come to the wrong gal.

I truly believe that tragedy is the drive of human nature.

Another concept I believe in is the concept of foils. Without heat, we can't truly understand cold - that idea.

But, yes, I do believe that people can relate to tragedy more... I think the universe is more of a hostile than friendly environment. And I only say this because without our thoughts and our theories, at least as humans in general, we'd be down to animals and their modes of survival. Survival of the fittest, as we call it. And that isn't a friendly environment. What makes a friendly environment friendly is personality, what makes a hostile environment hostile is nature. (Of course, you can always have a hostile personality... but that isn't exactly working towards the whole 'friendly' universe belief). And though the human race has such a strong personality it does not overrule the actuality of nature.

Regardless, though, I keep the foils in mind.

I like to look at movies as I do books. It's just another chapter, it never really ends. Even if we do relate to tragedy 'more,' this doesn't mean we can't or don't relate to 'happiness.' Which, of course, could be more potent at the end of another chapter.

:)
