I had the chance to visit the Getty Museum this Saturday evening to see some amazing photography.  One of the best things of this trip was realizing that the Getty is open until 9pm on Friday and Saturday - perfect timing to get inspired and then head out for a night of good fun in LA.

The first exhibit was entitled Public Faces/Private Spaces in which four different photographers capture the extraordinary in the ordinary.  The simple observation of individuals within their community is stunning.  The most inspiring series was done by Donald Blumberg who is able to blend several different frames together seamlessly while capturing some raw emotion outside of New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral.  One of his images shown below features two consecutive frames blended together because of the dark background of the cathedral.  The image comes from the Getty's website.

Continuing on a similar note, the other exhibit was entitled Where We Live: Photographs of America: From the Berman Collection.  The enormous expanse of the West Pavillion's bottom floor is completely to photographs showing several perspectives of American life.  There are definitely too many stunning images to describe in a post like this, so if you are in the area, be sure to check out the show before it closes on February 25th.
